Position Summary:
The Web Producer manages the design, development, and maintenance of the London Police Service (LPS) public website and Corporate Intranet. Using tools like Dreamweaver, FrontPage, Bootstrap, HTML5, JavaScript, and Python, this role updates digital content, ensures AODA compliance, and supports internal communications. Responsibilities include coordinating with web hosts, managing user access and permissions, and training staff in content management.

Responsibilities Service on Description
- Create and maintain the London Police Service (LPS) website and Corporate Intranet using web design and development software including Dreamweaver, Frontpage, and Bootstrap and programming languages including HTML5, Javascript, and Python.
- Create, maintain, and update content, pages, documents, forms, images, tables, and graphics on the LPS website and Corporate Intranet as required.
- Liaise with webhost on a regular basis for maintenance, upgrades, and technical issues pertaining to the LPS website and Corporate Intranet.
- Manage permissions for user accounts.
- Train members on the design and maintenance of pages and photo galleries.
- Ensure the public website is compliant with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA).
- Maintain approval workflow for organizational communication on the Corporate Intranet.
- Administer public user subscribers to pages and news releases for the LPS website.
- Facilitate support between LPS Information Technology (IT) and web host when issues or problems occur with the LPS website or Corporate Intranet.
- Create and maintain content for the London Police Television (LPTV) as requested.
- Collaborate with vendors on the procurement of and ongoing licensing related to website hosting and domain names.
- Assist in contract negotiations with webhost.
- Collaborate with vendors on complimentary applications related to web functionality including forms, calendars, email and other required applications.
- Keep current in advances in web technology.
- Maintain knowledge of AODA legislation and compliance and Search Engine Optimization techniques.
- Other duties as assigned within the core competencies.
- 2-year Diploma in Web Development, Web Design, or a related field, or equivalent.
- Working knowledge of HTML, Javascript, Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Illustrator, Ruby on Rails, Visual Studio Code, GitHub, and networking.
- 2-3 years’ experience in web design and development, including hands-on experience with website and/or intranet creation and maintenance.
- Familiarity with website hosting, integration with IT systems, and working knowledge of graphic design tools is essential.
- Strong problem-solving skills and judgement required for decisions that usually involve selecting from one of several optimal or existing set of solutions or protocols.
- Excellent communication skills required for regular contact with all levels of the organization and external contacts to give, obtain and/or exchange, and/or discuss technical information or decisions requiring discussion or explanation to ensure full understanding.
