Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Google Cloud Platform (GCP) Administrator to join our dynamic IT team. The GCP Administrator will be responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and optimization of our GCP infrastructure. This role requires a deep understanding of GCP services, best practices for cloud security, cost management, and automation. The ideal candidate will be proactive, problem-solving oriented, and possess excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

Infrastructure Management:
  • Experience with other Google Cloud logs, GCP services, Implementing cloud solutions, CDP Pipeline, Implementing Reliable Pipelines
  • Design, deploy, and manage scalable, highly available, and fault-tolerant GCP environments (VPC networks, compute instances, storage buckets, databases, etc.).
  • Monitor and maintain GCP services to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and security.
  • Implement and manage disaster recovery and business continuity plans for GCP workloads.
  • Perform regular backups and ensure data integrity and recoverability.
Security & Compliance:
  • Implement and enforce security best practices within GCP, including IAM, VPC Service Controls, security policies, and encryption.
  • Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, PCI-DSS, ISO 27001).
  • Manage and respond to security incidents in the GCP environment.
Cost Optimization:
  • Monitor GCP resource utilization and identify opportunities for cost savings.
  • Implement cost management strategies and best practices (e.g., committed use discounts, auto-scaling, right-sizing).
  • Generate regular reports on GCP spending and provide recommendations for optimization.
Automation & Scripting:
  • Develop and implement automation scripts (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell) for routine tasks, infrastructure provisioning (IaC - Terraform, Cloud Deployment Manager), and configuration management.
  • Utilize CI/CD pipelines to automate deployments and infrastructure changes.
Monitoring & Alerting:
  • Configure and manage GCP monitoring services (Cloud Monitoring, Cloud Logging, etc.) to proactively identify and resolve issues.
  • Set up alerts and dashboards to provide real-time visibility into system health and performance.
Troubleshooting & Support:
  • Provide expert-level support for GCP-related issues, troubleshooting complex problems and collaborating with development teams.
  • Participate in on-call rotations as needed to ensure 24/7 system availability.
Documentation & Knowledge Sharing:
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for GCP architecture, configurations, and operational procedures.
  • Share knowledge and provide training to other team members on GCP best practices.
Collaboration:
  • Work closely with development teams to understand requirements and provide GCP-centric solutions.
  • Participate in architectural reviews and provide input on cloud-native designs.

Qualifications:

Education: 
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
Bonus Points:
  • Knowledge of database administration (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB).
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
  • Experience with serverless architectures.
Experience:
  • 10+ years of experience in IT operations, with at least 3+ years specifically administering Google Cloud Platform. Proven experience with core GCP services (Compute Engine, GKE, Cloud Storage, VPC, Cloud SQL, BigQuery, IAM, Cloud Functions, Cloud Run).
  • Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools, particularly Terraform and/or Google Cloud Deployment Manager.
  • Strong scripting skills (Python, Bash, PowerShell).
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Cloud Build, GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins).
  • Experience with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Cloud Monitoring, Stackdriver, Prometheus, Grafana).
  • Familiarity with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Experience with Linux administration.
Certifications (Preferred):
  • Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect
  • Google Cloud Professional Cloud Engineer
  • Google Cloud Professional Cloud Security Engineer
Skills:
  • Deep understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, VPN, Firewalls).
  • Solid understanding of cloud security principles and best practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proactive and self-motivated with a strong desire to learn and adapt to new technologies.
